Centred in Truth (Volumes 1 & 2)
Published in Hardcover by Kalpa Tree Press (30 April, 2001)

The perfect choice for presenting this great man's lifeSwami Nitya-swarup-ananda (1899-1992) was a famous and brilliant monk of the Ramakrishna Order who founded and developed the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture in Calcutta, India. Centered In Truth is an outstanding two volume testament to his life and wisdom. Volume One (654 pages) presents his fascinating biography, including two visits to the United States. Volume Two (474 pages) is collection of his personal writings, commentaries, reminiscences, and memorial lecture programmes in his honor. Shelley Brown became a Vedantist in 1953 and began a spiritual dialogue with Swami Nitya-swarup-ananda that continued until the day he died and therefore is the perfect choice for presenting this great man's life, thought, and accomplishments to a western readership. Highly Recommended.

The Challenge of Man's Future: An Inquiry Concerning the Condition of Man During the Years That Lie Ahead
Published in Paperback by Westview Press (July, 1984)
Average review score:

as Albert (who?) Einstein lauded this book...."We may well be grateful to Brown for this book on the condition of mankind as it appears to an erudite, clear-sighted, critically appraisng scientist...the latest phase of technical-scientific progress, with its fantastic increase of population, has created a situation fraught with problems of hitherto unknown dimensions, this objective work is of high value." Also recommended by Supreme Court Justice William Douglas, this is an early and still highly valuable contribution to "future shock"-type planning and anticipation, hmmm, hum a few bars.

A Charlie Brown Christmas
Published in Paperback by Warner Brothers Publications (July, 1999)

The Charlie Brown ExperienceI have been a fan of the Charlie Brown comic strip for years. I am an accompished pianist, and still enjoy this great score by Vince Guaraldi. The skating song, with it's unique fun triplets give me the feeling of ice skating on a brisk winters day. His rendition of O'Tannenbaum is also one of the best jazz numbers blended with the classic recipe to give it a splendid zest. This work is a must have for any musician's collection. I sincerley thank Vince Guaraldi and Charles Schulz for their contributions to our American culture.

A Charlie Brown Valentine
Published in Paperback by Little Simon (01 January, 2002)
Average review score:

Brightly colored, and a lot of fun! This cute little book (29 pages, excluding the title page and so forth) is another excellent example of the work of the incomparable Charles M. Schulz. In this book it's St. Valentine's Day, the time of love, candy and Valentine cards. Peppermint Patty sends a card to Charlie Brown, but it's the Little Red-Haired Girl that his heart goes out to. Now, if Charlie Brown can only get her to notice him...
When I was a child, I absolutely loved the Peanuts, and I am so pleased that my own children have now fallen in love with those same funny characters. This book is large and attractive, with brightly colored pictures that are sure to please the young reader (and Peanuts fans of all ages)! My kids really loved a scene when Charlie Brown decides to practice giving the Little Red-Haired Girl a valentine with Snoopy, who surprises him by putting on a red wig!
This is a great book, and my family and I highly recommend it to you!

Charlottesville Collection: Featherstone and Brown
Published in Paperback by Wimmer Cookbooks (April, 1997)
Average review score:

This book has some really great, quick, and yummy recipes! You don't have to be in Charlottesville, VA to enjoy the recipes in this great book. The recipes are so short and easy... I'd recommend them to both experienced and new cooks alike. June Oakley has included a full selection of recipe types: soups, salads, main dishes, vegetables, breads, and desserts. Her book makes cooking for the family, as well as entertaining, a breeze.

Chemistry: The Central Science
Published in Hardcover by Prentice Hall College Div (June, 1999)
Average review score:

Well written, but lacking some explanations. Our high school Chemistry II class uses this book and I find it be well written. Each chapter builds on the previous for the most part, and basic concepts are review and expanded on. My only complaints would be that sometimes rather uselss information is included and the book would start explaining a topic and say, " it would be impractical to elaborate more since it is beyond the scope of this book." The book is orall well organized and explained. Great for reference.

Questions arent reviewsThe first three reviews are this textbook are just out-of-left-field questions; how can you give the text 1 star without ever reading it? I used this book all this year for AP Chem, I thought it was very good. The book was able to clearly explain the subject manner, with few exceptions.

Excellent Chem Text Book! This was the assigned textbook for my college General Chem Class. I was absolutely dreading the course, but the book (and the professor) made it so much easier...I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good General Chem book!
The book goes on to explain the various roles of governments and the public in inciting and justifying war. Rectification of perceived injustice by communities, need to preserve national honor, windows of threat or opportunity in geopolitical calculations - all are attended plainly yet compellingly.
Brown explores concepts like balance of power, international collective security, arms control, and their historical, philosophical bases, in proceeding towards the conclusion envisioning a unique mix of morality and changes in political-economic structure as the final hope of a new world order.
